30 Days of Kentucky Archaeology

Fort Campbell Celebrates Public Lands Day

Fort Campbell will be showcasing the area’s cultural and natural resources with its second annual Public Lands Day on September 10th. This family friendly event brings awareness to the diverse history, wildlife and recreation opportunities both on and off the military installation.  Booths will be set up around Lake Kyle with hands on activities, as well as free fishing for kids.

Fort Campbell’s Cultural Resources Program will also be highlighted. There will be a flint knapping demonstration, artifacts to touch, as well as a cemetery scavenger hunt. Program staff will also be on hand to discuss the numerous resources they manage.

This event is free and open to the public. An installation visitor pass is not required. Please contact Fort Campbell Archaeologist, Nichole Sorensen-Mutchie with any questions at nichole.e.sorensen-mutchie.civ@army.mil.
